How Do I Live in This World? Questions from a Novice Christian

Once Saved, Always Saved?

March 18, 2007 · 3 Comments

I read an incredible post today by Phil at:

http://abmi.wordpress.com/2007/03/16/playing-games-with-eternity/

If you haven’t read it, please make time to do that now. He addresses our walk with Christ and the times when we stray and the possibility that we’re rolling the dice with our eternal destination.

It’s a very thought-provoking post, and I thank God that he let the Holy Spirit speak through him in such a way. Living a Christian life is most often difficult, an uphill climb. They don’t call it “backsliding” for nothing.

Enjoy his post! Have a blessed Sunday.

(Um, is this “cheating?”)

Hi Catherine, you’re doing a great job with the blog for the Lord. Actually there is a lot of confusion in my mind on what constitutes being truly saved. Is it in praying the sinner’s prayer and inviting Jesus to come into one’s life? or is it about total repentance of our attitude of sinning and praying a sincere prayer of forgiveness to the Father? If one is truly saved, how can one be touched by the omnipotent power of God and His love, and still remain in sin or turn back towards sin? Why then are there such ones as backsliders?

I would like to share a sermon by Ray Comfort about True and False Conversion. Have a listen here: http://www.wayofthemaster.com/mp3/TrueFalse.mp3

Obviously the whole topic is more complex than that but it’s a start towards understanding the problem: are we living for God’s blessings or are we living for His righteousness?

His testimony is found on this page: http://www.wayofthemaster.com/about_ray.shtml

His partner, Kirk Cameron, best known as the lovable teen heartthrob Mike Seaver, of the award winning series Growing Pains also shares his testimony here: http://www.wayofthemaster.com/about_kirk.shtml
